Carl Jung Interview
Who was Carl Jung
Carl Jung was a Swiss Psychologist and Psychoanalyst who lived from July 26, 1875 to June 6, 1961. At one time he had a professional relationship with Freud, but he later split with him in 1912 when Jung’s book Psychology of the Unconscious was published. He is considered to be the founder of what came to be known as Analytical Psychology.
This interview took place at Jung’s residence in Switzerland in 1959, approximately two years before his death in 1961. Dr. Jung would have been about 84 at the time of this interview.
His insights in the context of Freemasonry
It is not often that one has a chance to see such a beautifully done interview with an individual who has had such an influence on not only his own field of psychology, but across a full range of disciplines including anthropology, literature, philosophy, and religious studies. When you listen to this interview, reflect on the purpose of the wonderful lectures in our degrees and the growth we gain from reflecting on them.
Famous quotes
He has many famous quotes attributed to him, but two that should resonate with Freemasons are:
I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.
Man can not stand a meaningless life.
The second, is the one he closes the interview with.
